Welcome! If you’re looking for an experienced writer with strong investigative
and reporting skills for your trade, custom or consumer publication, I’m the
right person for you. I’ve written for popular publications including Family
Circle, Ladies’ Home Journal, Cowboys & Indians, Prevention, Hemispheres and
Continental: more than 100 different magazines, plus newspapers and Web sites
with a focus on health—especially mental wellness—travel, lifestyle genres and
profiles. I’m open to most other subjects too, so if you have specific needs,
let’s discuss them.
I’ll be an enthusiastic team member who’ll deliver professionalism, commitment
to excellence and attention to deadline. I’m also “low maintenance,” upbeat
with a sense of humor, and willing to go the extra mile for you, your fellow
editors or your client. Just ask and we’ll get it done together.
I split my time between New Zealand and the United States and have lived and
worked in big cities and small towns worldwide, so I can relate to your
readers on a variety of levels.
In 2006, I received a fellowship in health writing from the University of
Southern California Annenberg School for Communication. I hold an M. A. in
journalism and business from New York University and a B.A. in communications
from Wake Forest University and City University of London, England. I’m
currently a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA)
and the Association of Health Care Journalists (AHCJ). My experience includes
a lengthy tenure in corporate communications—useful for custom work—as well as
hosting and production on both radio and television.
I know you have many choices: I’m dedicated to being the freelance contributor
you’ll choose for repeat assignments. Now, how can I help?
